John's Story

HERMON AND GREENBUSH - John C. Dean, 82, passed away February 15, 2015, at a rehabilitation center in Zephyrhills, FL. He was born February 4, 1933, in Halifax, VT, a son of Loran and Alice (Rich) Dean.

John served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He was a heavy equipment operator for 20 years and a carpenter for 37 years, prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and collecting baseball cards. He was a life member of American Legion Post 5, Brattleboro, Vermont, where he served as post commander from 1970 to 1971. He was also a life member of the BPOE 244 Elks in Bangor.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Tozier) Dean of Hermon; his 3 girls, Debra Dean of Bridgeport, CT, Diane Wiley of Hinsdale, NH and Carol and husband Lou Rogers of Ridgefield, CT; 2 step-daughters, Lisa Tozier of Liberty and Holly Tozier of Pittsfield; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Liz and Bruce Patten of St. Albans; a sister-in-law, Elsie Dean of Gainesville, GA; many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Jane Anderson of Chesterfield, NH; and a cousin Cora Cataldi of Orange, MA. He will also be remembered by dear friends, William and Marion Kitchen of Greenbush and Ronnie and Pam Guerrette of Glenburn. John will be missed by Miss Kitty, his feline companion.

He was predeceased by his parents and 4 brothers, Frank, Fred, James and Edward; and a sister, Edith Cetto.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, February 23rd, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport with William Kitchen officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 PM until the time of services. Those who wish may leave online tributes at
