EDMUNDS - John L. Cox, 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away June 13, 2016, with his loving family by his side at the Calais hospital. He was born Oct. 25, 1927 in Edmunds Twp, the son of the late Bernard and Ruth (Smith) Cox.
He married the love of his life Joyce (Damon) Cox, Dec. 20, 1942. They were happily married for 56 years. He enjoyed nothing more that his family and family gatherings. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was great at storytelling and remembering the family history. He survived by the "Apple of his Eyes," a son John R. Cox and his companion Lisa; twin daughters Janet and her husband Billy Barnes of Edmunds, and Joan and her husband Jackie Cushing of Pembroke; his grandchildren Melissa and her companion Jeremy and their children Kylie and Lane Brown, Jessica and her companion Wade, Katlyn and her companion Dan, and their twin sons, Elliott and Oliver Seamans, Kayla Cox and her companion Justin, Timothy and his companion Sara, and Nicholas Barnes, Jennifer and her companion Tim, and John Cushing and his companion Jenna; two brothers Lewis and Dana; as well as sister-in-laws, several nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife, Joyce D. Cox; a great-grandchild, Richard I Wring; four brothers Gerald, Gilbert, Bernard Jr., and Samuel; and his only sister, Esther Ward.
Graveside services will be held at 3 pm Sat, June 18 @ Round Pond Cemetery, Charlotte with Roy Kilby and Wayne Seeley officiating.
