HAMPDEN - Joan Fenrow, 79, died on May 1, 2014, at her home in Hampden. Joan was born in New York, NY, where she attended the School of Art and Design.
Following an early career in the performing arts as a modern dancer with the Martha Graham company and as a theatre actor, director, and drama coach, Joan turned her remarkable energy and talent to the art of painting. Her work has been displayed in art galleries and private collections in the United States, Europe, India, and Israel. In addition to her creative activity, Joan has been an inspiring and unforgettable teacher of several generations of art students in Westchester County, NY, where she lived prior to her move to Maine in 2009, as well as locally.
Joan leaves her devoted partner of 47 years, Lynda Marvin, also of Hampden, her loving nephews, Alan Ziaman of Mamaroneck, NY, and Eric Ziaman and his wife, Karen, of Williamsburg, VA, and scores of beloved friends, her extended family.
