- Jill Richards Landers passed away peacefully at her home in North Andover, MA, with her loving family by her side after a courageous and fierce battle with brain cancer. Jill's passion for animals and especially dogs shone brightly to everyone that knew her and her best friend a rescue dog named Zoey who was by Jill's side through her entire illness.
Jill was a teacher in the North Andover School system, and most recently worked to get her Master's Degree in special education to be able to follow her talent for working with special needs children of all ages.
Jill grew up in Bucksport, Maine, and attended this school system until she followed another one of her passions and moved to Merrimack College to play softball and study teaching. Through Merrimack, Jill had many successful years of athletics and academics however her biggest asset came from the amazing group of teammates and friends she developed there.
Jill leaves behind the love of her life, her husband Scott T. Landers. Jill and Scott wed on October 16, 2016, surrounded by their families but supported by everyone that knew them. They were made for each other and brought out only the best in each other.
Jill is also survived by her parents, Wayne and Michelle Richards of Brunswick, Maine, her sister Jana Grant and brother in law Jason of South Portland, Maine, her grandfather Edward Flannery of Orland, Maine, grandparents Laurel and Beulah Richards of Ft. Meade, Florida, and great grandmother Elizabeth Richards of Naugatuck, CT. She will be missed dearly by several aunts, uncles and cousins. She leaves two lights of her life- her nephews Eli and Finn Grant of South Portland, Maine. She is survived as well by her husband's family whom loved Jill like their own, including her mother and father in-law Diane and Vincent Jr. Landers of North Andover, her brother and sister in law Sean and Meghan Landers and their children Dylan and Emerson, sister and brother in law in law Cheryl and Michael Carlise and their son Joshua, sister in law Suzanne Correll and her daughter Rosie. She leaves many friends, co-workers and teammates whom she cherished deeply and whom supported her until the very end.
Jill's light was immense and far reaching. She leaves behind a memory that will be honored and protected by so many. Her bravery in the face of illness was unmatched and her strength will be carried on in those of us that loved her.
