BREWER - Jesse Cote- 78 of Brewer passed to the light unexpectedly on June 17, 2014. Born to Margaret And Joe Cote on August 29, 1935.
As a young child growing up in Boston, Jesse earned many medals in swimming. In his early teens he traveled to Presque Isle, Maine where he met two very special people Alice and Merle Sprague, where they continued to raise him as their own. On their farm he learned the values of family and honest work. At the age of 16 he joined the Navy where he served proudly for four years. While in Presque Isle, he met his Winona, they later moved to Mass. There he learned a trade as Farrier and discovered his passion for horses. In 1976 they moved their family to Ashland, Maine where he worked as a head mechanic at Pinkham Lumber until his retirement in 1998.
Jesse always had a story to tell and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was "A man who knew no strangers".
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Winona. Two brothers Joe and Bill Cote and a deceased sister Kay Wilkens. Jesse was blessed with three daughters. Ann and husband Steve Clark, their children Molly, Matt, and Katie. Jane and husband Jody Jimmo, their children Jennifer and Justin. Jeannie and husband Brent Hopkins, their children Tristan and Hannah. And a very special niece Debra and husband Tim Callahan. He also had many special nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. A very special neighbor Bill, and special Farrier friend Kevin.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 20 at 11:00a.m. At Woodlawn Park in Brewer, Maine. In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Jesse T. Cote can be made, to the Alzheimer's Association Maine Chapter, 383 U.S. Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, Maine 04074.
