HADLEY, NY - Jerald Lee Fletcher of Hadley, New York, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015. He was born July 24, 1932 to Elden and Helen Fletcher in Bangor, Maine. He grew up in Brewer Maine, until he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as an air traffic controller. Upon his honorable discharge, Jerry attended the University of Maine, wherer he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering physics. He retired after a long career at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory as a computer programmer.
On July 14, 1989, Jerry married Lorraine (Dugay) Dingman, his loving, surviving wife. They have enjoyed their passion for each other and ballroom dancing for 26 years.
Loving survivors include daughters, Debbie Anderson of Ballston Spa, NY and Trish Gori (Chris) of Lake Luzerne, and their mother, Betty Carter Fletcher ; grandchidren, Lenny Fletcher, Jonathan Howarth and Lauren Anderson; great-granddaughter, Olive Fletcher; sister, Anne and Richard Scribner of Presque Isle, Maine; and three nieces.
Along with his widow, Lorraine, Jerry will be missed by his stepdaughters, Gail Brust of Corinth, and Vicki Doherty (George) of Lake Luzerne; grandchildren, Laura Cartier (Bill), Nicole Jones (Matt) and Colby Nizolek; and great-grandchildren, Grace and Molly Jones.
Mickey Mouse, crossword puzzles, Calvin & Hobbs comics, the New York Yankees, big band music,U.S. History, Sacandaga Lake, lobster dinners, Lionel trains, model airplanes, ping pong tournaments and most of all dancing with Lorraine were things he enjoyed the most.
A man of many admirable qualities, Jerry was humble, kind and gentle in nature. An unkind wordnever escaped his lips. He fought his illness with stoic courage. Jerry will forever be a source of inspiration to his family and those who knew him.
Services will be private for the family on Friday, January 23, at 2:00. Arrangements are under the direction of Densmore Funeral Home, 7 Sherman Avenue, Corinth NY 12822. Interment will be held in the spring.
