Jeffrey's Story

ELLSWORTH - Jeffrey Fortier, 52, died on August 1st 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was born in Bar Harbor on April 2, 1963 the son of Joe and Charlotte (Young) Fortier.

Jeff loved to hunt and fish, and tell stories. He always liked to go uppta camp whether it be Branch Pond, Molasses Pond or a hunting camp up north. He was a member of the Ellsworth Fire Department's Senator Hale Hose Company for over 30 years. Jeff was also active with the EHS All Sports Boosters while his children were in school. He was very happy to be with us long enough to meet and hold his first grandson Carter. He will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 30 years Lorri (McCarthy) Fortier, his daughters Darci, and McKenzie and her boyfriend Tyler Thurston. His brothers Ron and Sandi, Gary and Carol, Dick and Joyce. His sister Debbie and Ric Newman, his brothers in law Mike and Cheryl, and Timothy McCarthy, his sisters in law Karen and Philip Hamilton and Anne Marie McCarthy, his mother in law Elaine McCarthy and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his father in law Joe McCarthy.

In lieu of flowers, Jeff would like donations of gas cards to be given to the Mary Dow Cancer Center to help other patients with travel costs. The family appreciates all the incredibly caring people that helped Jeff on his journey. A celebration of Jeff's life will be held at the Elks Lodge at 317 High Street in Ellsworth on Saturday August 8th from 5-7 P. M.
