Jeannette's Story

Text size

Parkman - Jeannette Cullicutt Gilbert, 76, passed away peacefully at home December 5, 2016, with her loving husband of 58 years, Merle C. Gilbert Sr., and family by her side. Born in Sangerville, September 26, 1940, daughter of Hartley W. Cullicutt and Arlene M. Cullicutt.
She was able to stay at home through her fight with Dementia due to the Love, Devotion, and Diligence of her Husband and Family. Jeannette worked for Hardwood Products for 27 years then went on to do private care in the homes of the elderly. She took great joy in spending time and helping those she cared for and would often make crafts and foods to take to them. She had a great love of life. Jeannette loved her family and friends and was legendary for her grand Christmas parties (where she would often dress up as Mrs. Claus) and parties for most any occasion. Every holiday was an event with decorating the house inside and out which people would drive for miles to see what her holiday decorations were.
She was active in the community, took joy in being a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed going to Silver Sneakers Class at the Community Center in Guilford with her husband. She loved cooking, baking (an incomparably talented cook), canning, yard sales, and thrift shops. If there were a deal to be found...she'd find it!
She had a huge heart and great love of life doing whatever she could to help others. She loved to go dancing with the love of her life her husband, their friends and family. For Jeannette it was always family first. She cared for her mother Arlene with everything she had in her. She was always there with love and support in any way she could, showing her great love and devotion to her 5 children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Everyone who was touched by Jeannette in their lives was truly blessed. She is deeply loved and sorely missed but will never be forgotten.
Jeannette was predeceased by parents Hartley and Arlene Cullicutt, brother Kenneth Ireland and her son Millage C. Gilbert. She is survived by her husband, children son Merle Gilbert Jr., wife Lori; son Calvin Gilbert, wife Julie; daughter Cindy (Gilbert) Westberry, husband Paul; daughter in law Tina Gilbert; and son Hartley Gilbert, wife Kimberly, and brother Weldon Cullicutt and wife Dodie, sister Helen Conant and husband Floyd, along with many nieces and nephews. A Gathering will be held at the Abbott Town Hall, December 17, 2016, 1:00-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pine Tree Hospice or CHCS Home Health and Hospice Services.
