Jeanne R. Joyce, 78, wife of the late Llewellyn V. Joyce, passed from this world into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 8, 2016 at Golden Acres Retirement Home in Franklin, Maine, due to the complications of a stroke. She was born Jeanne Rita Marie Demers on November 1, 1937 in Sanford, Maine, the daughter of Ernest and Yvonne (Gourde) Demers.
Jeanne was a member of the Swan's Island Church of God for many years. Some of those years spent as Treasurer and Bookkeeper.
Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had many friends and made many more during the years she and her husband, Llewellyn, ran "Jeanne's Place B & B". She was a very good "Chicken Foot" player, a game of dominos, and enjoyed winning most of all.
She was a wonderful baker and known far and wide for her molasses cookies in the shape of a little foot for the kids and cut from a Spam can for the rest of us.
Jeanne was a character for sure. Her laughter, jokes and teaching the kids how to speak French was a real hoot!
She spent hours knitting and crocheting pot holders and dish cloths which she loved giving away as gifts.
Jeanne is survived by her former husband, Roberto Robles, of Bucksport; daughter Roberta Robles of Boston, MA.; two brothers, Joseph Roger Demers of Florida and Joseph Reny Demers of New Hampshire; special nephew, Marc Demers of Curitiba, Brazil; stepson, Spencer Joyce of Swan's Island; stepdaughter, Bernita Joyce Pelkey of Stetson; and lifelong friend, Reta LaVallee of Sanford. She is also survived by four grandkids and 13 great grandkids who were the most loved ever by a Grammie. Special friends and partners in crime, Annette Joyce and Mary Catherine Hoffman and others to numerous to name, but she loved them all dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband Llewellyn; daughter Susan Robles D'Errico; four brothers and three sisters.
A graveside memorial service and burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Swan's Island, at 12:15, August 20th, with Pastor Wade Shaefer officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Church of God Fellowship Hall at 1:00.
In Lieu of flowers, we would ask that you donate in memory of Jeanne to the Swan's Island Ambulance Service C/O Debbie Staples, PO Box 6, Swan's Island, ME 04685.
