Jean's Story

EAST MILLINOCKET - Jean Segee, 86, died at home December 31, 2015 surrounded by people she loved. Jean was a lifelong resident of East Millinocket, where she was born in 1929, to Martin and Jane Stratton.

Jean met Doug Segee of Millinocket in 1946, and they were married in 1949. Jean was the school secretary at Opal Myrick Elementary School from 1970 - 1990. For years, she knit and gave away winter mittens, mostly to students of the elementary school. She was active in the East Millinocket Music Club and the First Congregational Church, UCC of East Millinocket where she was choir director for over 50 years.

Jean is survived by her husband of 67 years, Doug, daughter Susan (Morrow) and her husband Darrell, son Carl and his wife Diana, son Bruce and his wife Cathy, and son-in-law Douglas Fiske. She is predeceased by a daughter, Sandra (Fiske). Doug and Jean have 9 grandchildren, Brian Fiske, Karen Stanley, Jeff, Jon and Sarah Morrow, Jamie, Molly, Ben and Sam Segee, and 6 great-grandchildren, Derrick, Zachary, Emma and Alyssa Stanley and Gabriel and Isabel Fiske. as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her brother, Ralph Stratton, her brother-in-law, Merrill (Bud) Segee, and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Jones and Anita Moscone. The family wants to thank Jean's caregivers for the past 3 years, Cathy King, Fran Pfaff and Hope Charette.

A celebration of life will be held at the First Congregational Church, UCC in East Millinocket on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Visiting hours will begin at 9:30 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00.
