OLD TOWN - Jean Marie Butler, 96, died peacefully July 27, 2014 at a Bangor hospital with family by her side. She was born June 15, 1918, in Witley, England, a daughter of Edward C. and Constance E. (Webb) Boucher.
She retired from the University of Maine after 32 years. She was a strong independent woman and was able to live on her own until her death. She loved bowling and participated in the Old Town KC Aux Bowling League. She enjoyed watching golf and the Red Sox, playing cards, crossword puzzles, watching BBC programs, crochet and knitting. She also enjoyed her family and family gatherings, traveling and visiting the Maine Coast.
She is survived two children, Barbara Deshane and her husband, Henry of Glenburn, Judith Anaman of Scarborough; seven grandchildren, Amy Tucker and her husband, Troy, Nancy Deshane Snowdeal and husband Christopher, Jennifer Deshane, Christina Chludzinski and husband, Michael, Tammy Downing, Nathaniel Anaman, Samantha Anaman; great-grandchildren, Audrey Tucker, Hannah and Sarah Snowdeal, Ryanne Downing, Campbell and Jackson Chludzinski, sisters, Catherine Pelletier and husband Joseph of Bradley, Teresa Harris of Milford; Helen Hesseltine and her husband, Norman of Milford; brothers, Wilfred Boucher and wife, Beatrice of CT, Richard Boucher and his wife, Gloria, and Robert Boucher and his wife, Patricia all of Old Town; many nieces and nephews. Special "daughters" Lisa Lord and Laurie McCloud. She was predeceased by sister, Dorothy Angotti, and brothers, Donald Boucher and Norman Boucher.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately following the service all are invited to the Holy Family Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
