Janice's Story

KITTERY AND ORONO - Janice A. Stover, 70, passed away, peacefully, with her family by her side, on Saturday, June 11, 2016 after a long struggle with cancer.

Janice was born July 29, 1945 in Old Town, ME, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Jeannette G. (Stevens) Stover. She graduated from John Bapst High School in Bangor. She worked in the Accounting and Payroll Industry for many years and worked as an Accounting Specialist for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard retiring after 20 years. She received numerous achievement awards throughout those years.

She is survived by a brother Edward J. Stover Jr. and his wife Mary; 2 sisters Lia LeBretton and her husband Bob, Annette Cote and her husband Lester. She also leaves her cousin and dear friend, Norma Oliver; her uncle, Norman Stevens; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Justin Stover; and a sister, Pam King.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, care specialists, physicians and facilities that were involved with Janice's care; the patience and understanding that you all exhibit is a precious gift.

There will be no viewing, however, a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, June 18th at St. Christopher Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine with shared conversation and refreshments to follow. Burial will be at 11:30am on Tuesday, June 28th in Fairview Cemetery, Veazie ME. Memorial contributions may be made to Living Well with Cancer, York Hospital, 15 Hospital Drive, York, Maine 03909.
