ELLSWORTH - Janice Ann Chilsen, 62, of Ellsworth, died surrounded by loved ones on March 23, 2015, after a brave eight-month fight against cancer. She was born on Feb. 19, 1953, in Milwaukee, to Val and Shirley (Kislinger) Chilsen.
Janice attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout and University of Wisconsin-Madison before journeying to her beloved Maine. For 22 years she worked at the Jackson Laboratory, a prestigious nonprofit organization dedicated to curing disease throughout the world. A self-described "cowboy," Janice believed in the poetry of life. She enjoyed dancing, walking along the ocean and spending time and sharing laughs with her many friends.
Janice is survived by her sister, Deb (Jeff Olson) of Merrill; two brothers, Joe (Pat) of Onalaska and James (Claudia Grosz) of Evanston, Ill.; and eight nephews and nieces. She also leaves behind good friends, Tim, Susan B., Sue T., Alex and Karen. She was predeceased by her mom and dad; her good friend Arthur; and her cats, Frankie and Johnny.
Friends are invited to celebrate Janice's life at a get-together 3-5 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at Mainely Meat on Main, 193 Main St., Ellsworth. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to her brother, Jim Chilsen, 1725 Lee St., Evanston, IL, 60202 and family will forward to Jan's favorite charities.
