Janet's Story

Janet Godsoe, 73, died July 27, 2016 at a Bangor hospital. She was born December 25, 1942 in Guilford, a daughter of William and Vornie (Bragdon) Bird.

Janet grew up on her parent's dairy farm in Plymouth. She attended Newport and Plymouth schools. In her early years Janet was a telephone operator in the Town of Plymouth. When her children were young, she also hand sewed for a number of years. Janet was a member of the Plymouth Grange. She spent her life caring for her 6 children and helping raise her grandchildren. While her children were young she also maintained a large garden and canned. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, making many gifts for her family and friends. Most recently she has donated many crocheted hats for area school children.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lee Godsoe of Newport; 6 children, Herbert and Eleanor Malcolm of Kenduskeag, Cheryl and Damien West of Vassalboro, Brenda Godsoe of Detroit, Lee Godsoe, Jr. and partner Tracy Lecourt of Dexter, Kimberly and Scott Leeman of Etna, Travis and Kelley Godsoe of Plymouth; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Janet was predeceased by her siblings, William Bird, Jr., Betty Erskine, and Sally Millett.
