Janet's Story

DOVER-FOXCROFT - Janet T. Cunningham, 95, devoted wife of the late John I. Cunningham, died June 2, 2014, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born April 24, 1919 in Milo, to Frank G. and Katherine (Hanscom) Thompson.

She graduated from Milo High School in 1937 and married John I. Cunningham in 1938. She and John enjoyed 50 beautiful years together before he passed away in 1998. Janet was a member of the Milo Baptist Church until she moved to Dover-Foxcroft, where she had been active in the United Baptist Church. She had been residing at Hibbard Nursing Home since 2010. Her family and her church were most important to her. She was active in the Miriam Chapter No.40, O.E.S., and she volunteered at Meals for ME, in the Cooperative Extension program in Dover-Foxcroft, and in her church's mission work.

She was predeceased by her dearest sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Ellen and Wilbur G. Wallin in 1997 in Oregon, and by an infant brother, Craig Gilmore Thompson. She is survived by four nieces, Carolyn Leland of Dover-Foxcroft, Dolly Leland of Sangerville, Jean McKusick of Milo, and Karen E. Wallin of Tacoma, Washington; and by her extended family, Jan and Paul Hayes of Dover-Foxcroft.

Friends are invited to call from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Chris Viera officiating. Remembrances may be directed to the United Baptist Church, 144 E Main St., Dover-Foxcroft 04426, or to the Hibbard Nursing Home, 1037 W Main St., Dover-Foxcroft 04426.
