Jane's Story

MILLINOCKET - Jane G. Gagnier, 68, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 with her family beside her, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 17, 1945 in Torrington, Conn., the daughter of Benjamin and Valerie (Asklar) Galaise.

Jane will be remembered as a hard worker, having worked 28 years as a Nurse's Aide at Katahdin Nursing Home in Millinocket. Jane was a member of the Millinocket Elks Lodge #1521, B.P.O.E. She liked to garden, and drew great enjoyment from any activity involving the outdoors- hunting, fishing, and hiking especially. When outdoor activities were not an option, she enjoyed developing her crafting skills, crocheting, knitting and doing needlepoint. Jane loved spending time with family and hosting parties. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, and a doting grandmother and great grandmother.

Jane is survived by her husband of 16 years, Eldon W. Gagnier of Millinocket; four children, Wendy Gallant of Harrison, Roddy Shafer of Torrington, CT, Holly Shafer of Millinocket, and Brenda Shafer of Los Angeles, Calif.; two stepchildren, Rachel Gagnier and Brandy Gagnier, both of Flint, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be missed by her feline friend, Panda. In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by a great-granddaughter and her siblings.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at Millinocket Cemetery with Deacon Danny Watson officiating. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
