SOUTHINGTON, CONN. - James E. Rush of Southington went to be with his Lord on Wed. May 11, 2016. He was the husband of Jeanette (Holmes) Rush for 44 years. Born in Bangor, Me. May 3, 1931 the son of the late Greta (Porter) Ramsdell.
Jim graduated from Houlton High School in Houlton, Me. He was a Veteran of The Korean War serving in the USAF on Guam with the 9th Motor Transport Group. He was a member of the Masonic Monument Lodge No. 0096 of Houlton, Me. Jim was devoted to his family, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
A heavy equipment operator and a long distance truck driver, he was also a silent but active partner of Gifts In A Basket of Southington. He was known for his cooking and baking and many enjoyed his breads and molasses cookies. Others will remember his Awesome Chili that he helped make for more than 20 yrs. for the Renegade Pigs booth at the Apple Harvest Festival. He also enjoyed his Friday breakfasts with his Pastor, Rev. Wm. Tilley and his grandson Richie.
Besides his wife, Jim leaves his son, Michael LeFay and wife Judy, of Southington; his daughter, Renee LeFay Belanger and husband Brian of Bristol; his grandsons, Brian J. Belanger with whom he shared a home, and Brian's fiancée Amy Kubisek, Richard Belanger of Bristol; his granddaughters, Rachel Simone and husband Mark of Bristol, Lauren LeFay, Michelle LeFay and fiancé Evan O'Connor of Southington; and two great-granddaughters Kiley Rose and Kenzie Rae Simone, who were the light of his life.
He leaves a sister-in-law, Betty McKinnon of Brookton, Me.; two special aunts, Helena Porter of Me. and Jeanette Bethune of Georgia, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his step-father, Kenneth Ramsdell, His brother Nathan Rush and sister-in law, Betty Rush.
Interment will be in Littleton, Maine at the convenience of the family. A Memorial service will be held at the Calvary Assembly of God church, 55 Dunham St., Southington at 10:00 a.m. on Sat. May 14.
