James's Story

East Millinocket - James E. Dentremont, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 15, 2016. He was born April 15, 1928, in East Millinocket, the son of Alcide and Charlotte (York) Dentremont.
Jim grew up in East Millinocket, and was a graduate of Schenck High School. He served in the U.S. Navy. After his time in the service he returned to East Milinocket, where he worked at the Great Northern Paper Company for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1987. He married Elizabeth McPhee in 1952, and together they shared 56 years until her death in 2008. Jim had a camp at Cedar Lake that he loved spending time at, and it was the site of many happy memories for him and his family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time in outdoor activities. He was a member of the Feeney Groves Post #13 of the American Legion in East Millinocket, and was a communicant at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish.
He is survived by two children, Carl Dentremont of Dover Foxcroft and Lynn Estabrook and her husband, Jim, of West Chatham, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Scott Estabrook, Holly Doyle and her husband, Eric, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Adam Estabrook of Mashpee, MA; a great-grandson, Seth Estabrook; siblings, Frank Dentremont and his wife, Theresa, of East Millinocket, Arthur Dentremont and his wife, Jean, of Millinocket, Betty Heal of East Millinocket and Gloria McElroy of Unity; sisters-in-law, Virginia and Ruth Morin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was predeceased by siblings, Lionel Noddin, Marjorie DeWitt, Helen Dore, Irene Parsons and Howard Dentremont.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Stearns Assisted Living in Millinocket and also at Sweet Seniors in East Millinocket for the special and loving care given to Jim during his time spent at those facilities.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Catholic Church, 58 Cedar Street, East Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider. Interment, with military honors, will be at the East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Jim may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O.
