James's Story

CORINTH - James Arthur Bunce age 77 passed unexpectedly at a local hospital with his loving wife by his side after a long battle with CHF. He was born May 3, 1938 to the late Mary Markham and John Bunce. He was predeceased by three brothers, Dick, Joe, Tom and a sister Nellie Stupak. He is survived by his wife Donna, two sisters Leila Marion of Mobile County, AL, Evelyn Small of Sheffield MA and his brother Fred, Housatonic MA. Jim leaves five daughters, Laurie Wade of Lee MA, Gail Soules of Egremont MA, Tamara Graham of Davidsonville MD, Robin Hill of Venice FL and Betsy Pratt of Bradford ME. There are 13 Grandchildren and 23 Great-Grandchildren as well as a very special friend whom Jim loved like a son, Michael Bell.

Jim was a veteran of the US Army, he worked as an equipment operator and was entrepreneur in the restaurant business for 10 years. A member of the Maine Bow Hunters Association, Buckmasters "Big Buck Club" and the Maine Skull & Antler Club. He was especially proud of his record 8 point buck which scored 162 5/8. He was an accomplished Archer and knife maker. Besides hunting he enjoyed fishing & bowling, especially watching his beloved wife Donna bowl. He had his own chair, if that chair was empty he was missed, his humor and laughter were contagious. He loved his children and grandchildren, he will be sadly missed by many - truly he was one of a kind.
