EAST MILLINOCKET - East Millinocket - James C. "Jim" Belanger, 75, died Sunday, October 12, 2014, at the home he was born in on December 25, 1938, in East Millinocket.
Jim grew up in East Millinocket, and was a member of the last graduating class from the original Schenck High School in 1957. He went to work for the Great Northern Paper Company in East Millinocket, retiring as a Millwright in 1999 after 41 years of service. Jim was
an accomplished Square Dancer, teacher and caller for more than 40 years, travelling all over Maine, New England, and the Canadian Provinces. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed working as a carpenter. He loved camping while raising his family, and they have many fond
memories of family vacations spent camping together. While he enjoyed watching sports in general, Jim was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. In later years, he and Pat enjoyed going on cruises. Jim was a communicant of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Peter's Catholic Church in East Millinocket.
Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia (LaPlante) Belanger of East Millinocket; five children, Carol LeVasseur and her husband, Michael of Medway, Deborah Belanger of Hampden, Mary Belanger of Hampden, James C. Belanger, Jr. of Glenburn, and Franklin J. Belanger
and his wife, Shelby of Bangor; six grandchildren, Cody Thibodeau, Kristen Thibodeau, Eric LeVasseur, Matt LeVasseur, Brett Belanger, and Jackson Belanger; four siblings-in-law, Jean and Robert Paquin, Carol and Russell McClure, Nancy and Robert Carlstrom, and Gary and Linda LaPlante; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will also be missed by special friends, Mel and Harolyn Prescott. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Franklin and Mary (Carlin) Belanger.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, October 15 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, October 16 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor,
