GARLAND - Jackqueline Howell Chadbourne, 78, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, November 17, 2014, at Mayo Regional Hospital. She was born in Harmony on August 21, 1936.
It was in Harmony that she met and wed Archie Chadbourne also of Harmony. A short time after their marriage, they moved to Texas where the first of their nine children was born. Jackqueline was a devoted wife and mother. Her family warmly remembers the many holidays and family gatherings she hosted believing that "if you can get people together, it's good." She was a wonderful homemaker and her family appreciated her delicious cookingespecially her fudge, donuts, whoopie pies and baked beans. She was kind and never said a negative word about anyone. She enjoyed flowers, walks, her dog, cats, and reading the Bible and newspaper every day. She also enjoyed her trips to NY and NJ to visit family, and which also included visiting the local sights like the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty. After raising her family she worked for many years as a CNA at Hibbard's Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft.
Jackqueline is survived by her husband of 61 years, Archie Chadbourne; daughters, Debra Kantor and husband Mark of Hartland, Sandra Bush and husband Joe of Tucson, AZ, Kathy Chadbourne of Tucson AZ, Rebecca Chadbourne of New York, NY, Rachel Harmon and husband Tim of Dover-Foxcroft; sons, Steven Chadbourne and wife Heidi of Augusta, Paul Chadbourne and wife Laurie of Bangor, and Joe Chadbourne and wife Emily of Sangerville; brothers, Russell Howell of Harmony, Garwood Howell and his wife Irma of Harmony, Delmont Howell and his wife Clarita of Dixmont, and sister, Donna Larson and husband Bob of Bangor. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Manville and Alice Howell; and son, David Chadbourne.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 22, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Bob Young officiating. The family welcomes visitors following the funeral at the home of Debra Kantor, 510 Fuller Corner Road, in Hartland. A committal service will take place in the spring at the Sugar Hill Cemetery in Harmony. Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.
