MADAWASKA - J. Normand Dionne, 84, passed away October 4, 2014 at a Madawaska health care facility with his family by his side. He was born on August 22, 1930 in Madawaska and was the son of Eloi and Josephine (Cyr) Dionne.
Normand took over the family farm after his father passed away and then worked for Vahlsing Sugar Beets and spent one summer as a grounds keeper at Birch Point Golf Course. He then was a custodian for the Madawaska School Dept. where he retired after 25 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed helping his nephew with making hay and taking care of the animals. He enjoyed hunting, tractors, and new vehicles of which he purchased many. He was predeceased by his parents Eloi and Josephine, eight brothers: Levite, Alphie, Leo, Lucien, Albenie, Romeo, Ernest, George-Emile, and four sisters: Caroline, Annette, Lucienne, and Jeanne.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Omerine (Clavette) Dionne, and two sons, Richard and his fiancée, Caryl Albert of Madawaska, Michael and his wife, Sandra of St. David, and one daughter, Lisa of Frenchville. Four grandchildren, Jennifer, Shannon, Allen and his fiancée, Crystal Leclaire, Aaron and his fiancée, Emily Pelletier, and three great-grandchildren, Damian, Dakoda, and Dawson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at the St. David Church. Family and friends may offer their condolences at the church from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make donations in Normand's memory can do so to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 (www.pdf.org).
