FORT KENT - J. Luke Bourgoin, 83, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2015, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born on June 20, 1931, the son of Albert Bourgoin and Antoinette (Chasse) Bourgoin.
Luke served his country during the Korean conflict. He worked for many years at Acadia Motors, alongside his brother-in-law, Roger Pelletier, until his early retirement in 1979. He was an active member of the church in various capacities - both in St. Agatha and St. Michael's Chapel. Luke's main passion was spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, caring for his home and doing various craft projects.
Luke leaves behind his beloved wife and sweetheart of 60 years, Virginia (Pelletier) Bourgoin; as well as two daughters, Elena Bourgoin of St. Agatha and Janice Young and her husband, Steven, of Frenchville; one granddaughter, Samantha Davis and her husband, Joshua, of Glen, N.H.; one grandson, Derek Young of St. David; one sister, Marie McGough; one brother, Louis; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Steven J. Bourgoin.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 9, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Parish in St. Agatha. Condolences may be shared prior to the service from 9-9:45 a.m. on the day of the funeral Mass at the church. Interment will be held later in the spring in the St. Thomas Parish Cemetery in Madawaska. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in J. Luke's name to the Edgar J. Paradis Fund, 194 E.
