FORT KENT - Ivan Roy, 72, died peacefully March 19, 2016 surrounded by his family at a Fort Kent Health Care Facility. He was born in Frenchville on Dec. 18, 1943 the son of Wilbrod and Marie (Gervais) Roy.
Ivan served in the US Army, he was a member of the VFW Lozier O'Grady Post 9609, American Legion Martin Klien Post 133, and a past member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus all of Fort Kent. Ivan was an avid outdoors man -- he loved hunting, fishing and ATV riding. He also enjoyed playing Charlie, his favorite past time was turning a wrench. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Joan (Guimond) Roy; his children, Paula and her husband, Pierre Plourde, and Allen Roy all of Fort Kent, and Peggy Roy of Bangor; two grandchildren, Kate and Austin; a great-grandson, Graydon Beaulieu; two brothers, Bert Roy of Conn. and Josephat Madore of Fort Kent; and three sisters, Yvette Hebert, Delores Chasse, and Evangeline Bouley all of Fort Kent.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his twin daughters, Priscilla and Lucille; one brother, Norman Roy; and two sisters, Egline Dubois and Aline Hebert.
Friends may call 6 to 8 pm Tuesday March 22, and 9 to 10:30 am Wednesday at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
A Mass of Christian Burial with full Military Honors will be celebrated 11 am Wednesday at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be held in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made in Ivan's memory to the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 E. Main St., Fort Kent. Me. 04743, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
