- Irene M. Martin, 87, died peacefully May 31, 2017, with family by her side at a Bangor Health Care Facility.
She was born in St. Francis, March 1, 1930, the daughter of Victor and Isabelle (Gagnon) Jandreau.
Irene was instrumental in starting the Holy Hour on the first Sunday of each month after 9/11. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann, and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary both of St. Francis and belonged to the Marian Movement of Priest.
Irene loved gardening in her flower bed and praying for her family, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by 13 children; Barbara Roy of St. David, Alton and his wife, Mona (Michaud) Martin of Fort Kent, Elaine Crosby of Arlington, VA, Jason Martin of St. Francis, Iris and her husband Alain Pelletier of St. Hilaire, New Brunswick, Dana and his wife Lisa (Lavoie) Martin of Millinocket, Arnold Martin of St. Francis, Nola and her husband John Daigle of New Canada, Richard Martin of St. John, Stella and her husband Luc Gagne of Caron Brook, New Brunswick, Verona Martin of St. Francis, Lance and his wife Pauline (Morin) Martin of St. John, Benita and her husband Daniel Dionne of Edmunston, New Brunswick.
41 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six sisters; Winnifred Jandreau, Vina Ouellette, Marybell Jandreau, Nadine and (Roy) Taggett, Margie and (Clyde) Taggett, Angie and (Carol) Taggett. Three brothers; Hansley and (Linda) Jandreau, Nelson and (Jean) Jandreau, Calvin and (Gin) Jandreau. One sister-in-law, Phylis Jandreau.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by the love of her life, her beloved husband Hermel Martin in 2012, one daughter Mavis Lisa in 1963, two sons-in-law, Guy Roy and Nathaniel Crosby, two brothers; Alphandore "Pat " Jandreau and Marvin Jandreau. Two sisters; Bella Plourde and Verna Jandreau.
Friends may call June 4, 2017 Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated June 5, 2017, Monday, at 10 a.m. at the St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Francis, with committal services will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery. Those who wish in Irene's memory may donate towards memorial masses.
