Irene's Story

BRADLEY - Irene P. Jordan, 98, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 3, 2014, at a health care facility in Bangor, Maine. She was born in Damariscotta, November 1, 1914, the daughter of the late Winnfred and Dycal (Hersey) Potter.

She attended schools in Whitefield and Waterville. After marrying her beloved husband, Lloyd Jordan, they made their home in Bradley. She was an active member of the Bradley Baptist Church for over 60 years and served on many committees and boards as well as being a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. Prior to moving to Bradley, she was a member of the Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church in Waterville. She was fiercely independent and was happiest when she could be doing something for someone else. She loved to sew, knit, and create many handcrafted items. Over the years many children were the recipients of her mittens and hundreds of nursing home patients, as well as friends and family, received her hand-made cards and notes of encouragement.

She is survived by her daughter, Patty Jordan, of Hudson, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and a baby daughter, she was predeceased by a brother and two sisters.

Special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Westgate Center for Rehabilitation and Alzheimer's Care for their kindness and for making her feel so special.

There will be no formal services. Private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Bradley.
