Irene's Story

ASHLAND - Irene B. Chandler, 86, died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. She was born March 17, 1929 in Ashland, a daughter of the late Angus and Delia (Morrow) Burby.

Irene owned and operated former Chris' Diner, Ashland, for over 18 years and Chris' Motel & Restaurant almost 10 years. She loved to dote on her little pooch, Pumpkin.

She is survived by: two daughters, Cheryl Pool and her husband James of Ft. Pierce, FL and Chris McPherson and her husband Stuart of Ashland; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Irene is predeceased by her husband Wendell D. Chandler, a sister, Pauline Clark, and two brothers Fred and Richard Burby.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning 10AM until the time of service. Spring burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Sheridan.
