Hubert's Story

WYTOPITLOCK - Hubert "Tood" S. Brown, 77, died February 4, 2015, in Bangor, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 30, 1937, in Wytopitlock, the son of Elwood "Jug" and Ethel (Bickford) Brown.

He graduated from Wytopitlock High School in 1956 with his future wife. They married September 27, 1957. At the age of 15, Tood started driving truck and for the next 62 years, he worked in the logging, excavation and snowplowing business as a skilled equipment operator. He co-owned the Floral and Evergreen shop with his wife from 1970 - 2014. Since 1979 he was assistant fire chief for the Reed Plantation Fire Department, he was a member of the Wytopitlock Fish and Game, volunteered at the Food Pantry, was the Town Fire Warden, a member of the Wytopitlock Alumni Association and he was involved with civic affairs as well.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beatrice (Merchant) Brown of Wytopitlock; 6 children, Renita Dill and Leroy Pelletier of Fort Kent, Cary and Ardis Brown of Weston, Tonya Brown and Mark Kneeland of Hampden, Carmela Brown and Roger Parker, Garret Brown, all of Wytopitlock, Chandra and Daniel Campbell of Danforth; 9 grandchildren, Ryan, Natasha, Brandan, Tara, Darius, Devan, Mikayla, Jordan and Brogan; 2 great grandchildren, Kylee and Dawson and future great granddaughter, Clover; a sister, Linda and Joe Foley of Cornish; a brother, Ed Brown of Meridan, CT; sister-in-law, Lois Brown of Manchester, CT; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; a son-in-law, Andy Dill; brother, Norris Brown; a sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Kenneth Irish.

A celebration of his life will be held 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 7th at the Reed Plantation Fire Department.
