Howard W. Cobb, 73, passed away May 18, 2017 from complications of COPD. He was born March 13, 1944, the son of Walter and Madelyn Cobb of Belmont. A graduate of Belfast High, Howard worked on his parent's farm and at their store until his mid-20s, then as a prison guard for MSP in Thomaston for the next 28 years. He enjoyed being an umpire for all the local softball teams, and fishing with friends. He then worked for Dragon Cement Plant for another eight years. Howard joined the Maine National Guard in 1963, B co 262 ENGBN and retired as 1st SGT of the 133rd ENGBN in Feb. of 2004 having served for 41 years.
A memorial service will be held on August 20th at the American Legion Post #1 on Limerock Street in Rockland at 2 p.m. during a reunion for the B co 262 and the A co 133rd that Howard served with. All members and retired members that served with and are still serving are invited to attend. The reunion will start at 12 noon.
