Hilary's Story

LINCOLN AND BRADLEY - Hilary Julia (Julia) Loranger passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2016, at her home in Bradley. She was born September 14, 1942, in Harpenden-Herts, England, the daughter of Arthur and Muriel (Lodge) Lindsey.

She attended culinary school and worked for a brief time with the BBC in London before coming to America to work as a nanny. This was the start of a long career in helping others. She was a nanny for several families throughout the northeast; later, after her children were in school, she started work as a home health aid, providing in-home care for families throughout the Penobscot Valley. She met Donald while living in Massachusetts. After they were married, Donald and Julia moved to Lincoln, Maine to some land they had purchased in an auction and, with the help of their friends, built a house where they continued to live until last year.

Julia enjoyed working in her beautiful garden, spending hours cultivating numerous flower beds all around the yard. She was an avid reader and a long-time patron of the local library. She also took pleasure in music, and almost always had something playing in the background. Julia also adored animals, and always had a cat or dog (or two) around. Her life touched many people, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Loranger; son, Daniel Loranger and his wife, Nicole; daughter, Lisa Loranger; brothers, Neil Lindsey and his wife, Helen, Adrian Lindsey and his wife, Suzanne, Michael Lindsey, and Stephen Lindsey and his wife, Dorrie; grandson, Collin Loranger; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 10 from 2:00-4:00pm at Clay Funeral Home in Lincoln, Maine. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Penobscot Valley Humane Society in Lincoln.
