HUDSON - Herbert A. Thayer Jr., 72, died March 9, 2016, after a long illness. He was born March 8, 1944, in Glenburn, the son of Herbert A. Thayer Sr. and June E. (Bubier) Thayer.
Herbert worked as a truck driver for Sunrise Materials for many years and later in maintenance for Bangor International Airport. He was known by many by his CB handle "Red Truck" and he loved four-wheeling and camping. Herbert was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #3177, Brewer.
He is survived by his three children, Laurie Jean Poole and her husband, Alan, of Kenduskeag, Betty Jo Thayer of Kenduskeag and Theresa Marie Thayer of Hudson; four grandchildren, Joseph Thayer and his wife, Lindsey, Timothy Thayer and Sara, Ryan Thayer and Cody Thayer; five great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Jonah, Connor, Aden and Sydney Jean; one stepson, Brandon White; one brother, Fred Thayer; three sisters, Mabel Walker, Linda Halloran and her husband, Alfred Sr., and Nadine Polisky and her husband, Ray; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Diana Thayer; and by a granddaughter, Sophia.
The family would like to thank the staff at EMMC and the nursing staff of Gentiva Home Health Care for the excellent care they provided Herbert.
