Helen's Story

CHERRYFIELD - Helen Louise Wass, 61, passed away peacefully in her home on December 19, 2014 after a brief illness. Helen was born September 27, 1953, in Machias, daughter of the late Clyde and Katherine (Foss) Crockett. Helen attended Machias Memorial High School, graduating in 1971. Helen graduated St. Mary's School of Nursing, becoming licensed as a registered professional nurse in 1978. Helen had a passion for working in the field of geriatrics and was well-respected by those who worked with her. She loved getting to know her patients and hearing their life stories. Helen made many memories at her family's camp on Bog Lake as well as her adventurous outings with good friend Carolyn. Helen had an undying love for her trusted companions, Amy and Bailey that spent many years by her side providing devoted friendship and love. Helen is survived by two nieces, Abby Crockett and fiancé Brian of Roque Bluffs, and Laura C. Blake and husband Rob, of Hampden. She also leaves behind sister-in-law Diane Crockett of Northfield, great nieces Allison, Jillian, and Brianna, and great nephews Keenan and Micah. Helen is predeceased by her father Clyde Crockett, mother Katherine (Foss) Crockett, brother John F. Crockett, nephew Matthew Crockett, and her beloved companion (dog) Amy. Helen will be greatly missed by her family and dear friend Carolyn Seletzky, as well as many other friends whose lives she has touched throughout the years. Services will be arranged by the family and held at a later date.
