Helen (Clemons) Coro, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2016, with her good friend and neighbor by her side. She is now reunited with her beloved son, Bernard, who gave his life for his country in Vietnam; and her husband of 55 years, Adolf. Helen was born June 12, 1928, in Denmark, Maine, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Jewett) Clemons.
She graduated from North New Portland High School in 1947. She met her soul mate, Adolf, and they married June 21, 1947. On May 29, 1951, she gave birth to her only child, Bernard. Helen led a quiet life devoting herself to her son and husband. In 1954 they moved to Medway. When Adolf started his auto salvage business in 1960, Helen was at his side doing the books and even assisting him in the yard if he needed a hand. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, reading her Bible, playing the organ and cooking for her men.
She is survived by a brother, Richard Clemons and a special sister-in-law, Tina Brown, known as "Little Sister"; neighbor and true friend, Linda Madore; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Helen was predeceased by her husband Adolf; son, Bernard; brothers, Alton, Hubert, Frederick and Lawrence; and sisters, Thelma, Margaret and Martha.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Avenue, East Millinocket. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the hour preceding the service. Interment will be at the Grindstone Cemetery in Medway.
