Harriett's Story

LINCOLN - Harriett A. Irish, 91, wife of the late Elvin Irish, died December 6, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 30, 1923, in Reed Plantation, the daughter of Fred and Inez (Weston) Bubar.

Harriett was a bus driver and custodian at Lee Academy for many years. She was a lifetime member of Hamm-McGinley VFW Post 7409 Ladies Auxiliary in Mattawamkeag. After moving to Lincoln, Harriet cared for several children in her home. She had a great knowledge of and love for flowers. She dearly loved cooking and sharing with others. Harriett lived her life for her family. Her kids were everything to her.

She is survived by four children, Valice Austin, Valerie Cropley, Dennis Irish and Sue, and Rickey Irish and Emma; a sister-in-law, Erma Bubar; twelve grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Elvin Irish, she was predeceased by two sons, Lionel Irish and Bernard Irish.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Wytopitlock Cemetery. Those who wish may sign an online register and leave written condolences at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
