Harriet's Story

Text size

Mars Hill - Harriet G. (Britton) White, 94, passed away peacefully at the Aroostook Health Center early Saturday morning, Sept. 9, 2017. She was born December 31, 1922 in Monticello, the daughter of George and Elzena (Delong) Britton.
She was a farmer's wife. Harriet and her husband farmed for many years and then she worked many years at TAMC in the housekeeping department. Harriet enjoyed camping over the years and spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. When family and friends dropped by they always knew the teapot was on and homemade goodies were served. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Harriet was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 67 years Albert M. White Sr., a son Ronald, two sons-in-law Robert Doak and John Butts, her brothers Norville, Halston, and Warren Britton, her sisters Erdean and Dorothy Hutchinson. She is survived by her loving sons, Albert Jr. of Mars Hill, Terry and his wife Paula of Easton, four daughters; Sandra and Clarence "Dick" Hawksley of Presque Isle, Judy Doak of Mars Hill, Cindy Bernier and her husband Brent of Caribou, Debbie Holmes and her husband Galen of Mars Hill, 12 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, a brother Richard Britton and his wife Mary of Monticello, many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all residents and staff at the Aroostook Health Center for all the loving care and support. No words can express the excellent care received.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Kings Grove Cemetery, Mars Hill, with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Donations may be made in her memory to the Robert Doak Scholarship Fund, Central Aroostook High School, P.O. Box 310, Mars Hill, ME 04758. Online condolences may be shared at www.duncan-graves.com
