Hamel's Story

REDWOOD CITY - Hamel R. Caron died on July 20th after a short illness. He was born on August 22, 1923, to Helen (Plourde) and Joseph Caron in Fort Kent, ME. He married Bernadette P. Caron in Fort Kent on Aug. 29, 1949. Hamel served in the United States Army during World War II and was discharged honorably in 1945. He worked for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad for his entire career, retired early and moved to the sunny Palm Springs, CA area where he and Bernie could golf and avoid the snow. Bernie predeceased him in February 2014.

He is survived by his son, Aldon R. Caron of Redwood City, CA., and his life partner, Maria Tovar; his daughter, Paula A. Caron of Dover, N.H., and her husband, Stephen Looney; and one grandson, Nicholas Hamel Kierstead of Boulder, CO.

Services and interment of his and Bernie's ashes will be held at a later date at the VA cemetery in Caribou, ME
