ELLSWORTH - H. Winfield Russell, 83, died March 14, 2014. He was born Jan. 24, 1931, in New Haven, Conn., son of Robert Blake and Helen (Ferguson) Russell.
Win attended Cheshire Academy and later joined the U.S. Army where he served in post-war Germany. His love of boating and coastal living prompted him to move his young family from Cheshire, Conn., to Trenton, in 1960. He traveled Down East working for Snap-On Tools and later worked as service manager at Sea Coast Subaru from which he retired. He spent much of his retired life between his home in Ellsworth, cottage on Georges Pond, and a winter home in Lady Lake, Fla. He was an active member of the Friends of the Union River and the Barber Shop Quartet. All who knew Win appreciated his great sense of humor, his passion for automobiles and racing, his love of music and song, his commitment to his faith, and his love of dogs.
He is survived by two of his children and their families; daughter, Audrey Russell Mitchell of Ellsworth and her husband, John, granddaughter Carrie, and great-granddaughter, Olivia; daughter, Pamela Russell Trieu of Falmouth, and grandchildren, Hannah and Samuel Trieu; son-in-law, Ted Angel, granddaughter, Sarah L. Angel, and stepson, Jeffrey Bunker. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Linda Russell Angel; wives, Barbara Dayton (mother of his children), and Jean Bunker Russell; and brothers, Robert Blake Russell Jr., and Warren Loggie Russell.
Winfield and his family share their gratitude for his excellent care at Collier's Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
