Geraldine's Story

BANGOR - Geraldine H. Moore, 86, wife of the late Ralph A. Moore died January 24, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. She was born Nov. 27, 1928 in Lewiston, the daughter of John and Sadie (Langlais) Hurd.

Geraldine grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School. She also graduated from University of Maine, Farmington and went on to teach second grade in Dedham, Trenton, Ellsworth and Brewer schools for many years. Thirty years of her teaching career were spent at Pendleton Street School in Brewer. She never forgot a student. She would surprise them by knowing their name and the year she taught them in school, no matter how long ago it had been since she had seen them last. In her retirement, Geraldine and her husband owned Householder, a pet and house sitting business. They had many adventures with people and animals alike. Her favorite hobby was her family. She loved her family and enjoyed hearing about each one's day, no matter how mundane. As of late, she was so excited to spend time with her new great grandson, Lucas Farrar. She will be remembered for her warm heart and smile.

Surviving two children, Jeri-Lynn Candage and friend, Craig Seip of Brunswick and Edwin J. Moore and his wife, Teresa of Bangor; five grandchildren, Amber Joy and her husband, Thomas of Ellsworth, Chelsea Semple and her husband, Feargal of Augusta, Michael Schmidt of Bangor, Ashley Farrar and her husband, Andrew of Brewer, Curran Candage and his wife, Elizabeth of Gorham; great grandson Lucas Farrar of Brewer; two brothers, Richard Hurd and his wife, Mary Lou and Robert Hurd and his wife, Nancy all of Auburn; one sister, Sheila Wheaton and her husband, Jim of Virginia; nieces and nephews and her little dog, Mishou.

Geraldine's family is grateful for the excellent care they received from various home health care agencies including Assistance Plus, Arcadia, MAS, New England Home Health and New Hope Hospice and appreciative of the help they received from her grandchildren, Michael Schmidt and Ashley Farrar.

A graveside service and burial will be held in the spring at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Bangor Maine Humane Society, 693 B Mt Hope Ave, Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.
