George's Story

ETNA - George T. Bushey Sr. 77 died Aug 25, 2015 at his Etna home following a long illness. He was born in Presque Isle Aug. 11, 1938. He was raised by his parents Frank and Lena (Grass) Nye.

George was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for most of his working life. For several years he drove tractor trailer for Grants Dairy in Bangor. He then went to work for the State of Maine Department of Transportation working for them for 25 years retiring as a foreman at the Carmel D.O.T. site. After his retirement he worked for Noyes Construction Co. in Carmel for several years.

George always liked to work in his garage or even just watching someone else tinker on an engine. He liked going to yard sales and always enjoyed camping.

George was predeceased by his wife Linnis on Sept 16, 2010 and his son David Bushey.

He is survived by three sons; George "Tom" Bushey Jr. of Etna, Darryl Smith of Carmel, George Lawson of Alton, three daughters; Robin and Joel McClain of Biddeford, Kelly Bragg of Winslow, Wendy and Mike Lawler of Carmel, a step daughter Brinda and Terry Hyson of Etna, a sister Phyllis Corliss and her husband Arthur of Berwick, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many special friends and his K-9 companion Duke.

At his request there are no visitations. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Saturday Aug. 29, 2015 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Etna.
