Genevieve's Story

OLD TOWN - Genevieve M. "Jenny" LaFrance, 74, died March 14, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 9, 1940 on Indian Island, ME a daughter of Ralph A. Sr. and Grace (Paul) Nicola.

Jenny graduated from Old Town High School, class of 1958, and attended Beals College for one year. Jenny like making clothes for her grandchildren and knitted hats and mittens for them. Jenny enjoyed baking and made wedding cakes, cupcakes for Indian Island daycare, cakes for Indian Island Senior home, and her peanut butter fudge was famous at the high stakes bingo. Later in life she found she had a talent for making necklaces. She enjoyed going on trips with the Indian Island Seniors club. She like going to the many meetings of the Class of 1958. She enjoyed the company of her "grand dogs" Phoenix, Bella, Gracie, Remy, and Peaches.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years Joseph J. LaFrance of Old Town, two daughters Elaine LaFrance and her companion Keith Jennings of Milford, Carole LaFrance of Milford; three grandchildren Heather, Nathan, Charlotte Lonko; sister Blanche Corbett of West Paris, and brother Ralph Nicola Jr and his wife Pat Knox-Nicola of Indian Island.

She was predeceased by an infant daughter Ann, her parents, brother Francis Nicola and sister Suzanne Kenny.

A memorial mass will be celebrated 10AM Wednesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church Indian Island. Interment at a later date will be at Tribal Cemetery, Indian Island.
