- Galen R. Howard died Oct. 20, 2016, at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born March 19, 1937, in Woodland Maine, the son of Harold and Gladys (Curtis) Howard.
Galen served in United States Air Force and retired from Maine National Guard in 1993. He was employed at Canteen from 1961-1975 then at General Electric from 1975-2000. He was a member of Kenduskeag Lodge #137.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two sisters Rita Elmstead and Marilyn Howard. Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years Beverly (Bemis) Howard are his three sons, Jeffrey Howard of Glenburn, Wayne Howard of Newburgh, Keith Howard of Hampden and his daughter, Yolanda (Howard) Greenier of Pittsburgh, PA; his eight grandchildren, Camron Howard, Jillian Howard, Christoph Howard, Elijah Greenier, Nathanael Greenier, Benjamin Greenier, Isaac Greenier, and Samuel Greenier; his one great grandchild, Atreyu Browne; his sisters, Novella Howard, Clarice Dickerson and brother, Dale Howard.
The family would like to send out a special Thanks to the Maine Veterans Home for providing such great care to Galen over this past year.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 to 7 p.m., Monday October 24th 2016, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 25th 2016, with Rev. Andrew Spohrer, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor immediately following the service Monday.
