CORINTH - Freeman Thomas Spencer, 87, died February 7, 2015, at a Bangor hospital. He was born August 21, 1927, in Old Town, son of Jiles and Hazel (McKenny) Spencer.
Freeman attended Patten schools and graduated from Bangor High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII and was formerly employed as a security guard at the University of Maine, Orono. He was a past Commander of the American Legion, Post #97 of Howland and at the time of his death was Sgt at Arms 13th District of Maine. Freeman was a member of Glad Tidings Church of Bangor.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie L. Spencer of Corinth; one sister, Stella Suitter of Houlton; several nieces and nephews.
Interment with military honors will be held in the spring at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Those who wish to remember Freeman in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Activity Fund of the Maine Veterans' Home, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
