Frederick's Story

BREWER & FRANKFORT - Frederick L. Tardiff, 81, husband of Jane E. (Sargent) Tardiff, died Apr. 24, 2014 at a Bangor hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born July 26, 1932 in Brewer, the son of Edmund F. and Harriett E. (Witham) Tardiff.

Fred was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked for Maine Central Railroad for 28 years.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years of Frankfort; children, John Tardiff of Winterport, Leisha Gordon and her husband, Richard of Hermon, Matthew Tardiff and his wife, Laurie of Hancock, Frederick Tardiff, II and his wife, Linda of Stetson, Melanie Tardiff of Dennysville, Debra Bakeman and her husband, Bruce of California, Linda Tucker and her husband, Larry of Ellsworth and Carol Dunkin of Ohio; his sister, Eleanor Buchanan of Brewer; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws in the Sargent Family especially his sister-in-law, Linda Harriman of Frankfort; special cousins, Paul Tardiff of Bangor and Lawrence "Birdie" Tardiff of Rumford. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edmund "Chummy" Tardiff, Jr. and William Tardiff and by 3 sisters, Barbara Chapman, Nola Tardiff and Elaine Swanson.
