- Frederick M. Moorhouse Jr., 82, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at a Bangor hospital.
Frederick grew up in Craston, Rhode Island, and graduated from Colby College with a degree in geology. His time in college was some of the best in his life and he forever treasured the lifelong friends me made at school. He then served his country as an ensign on the U.S.S. Roy O. Hale and eventually retired as a full commander. Frederick was very patriotic and loved his time in the U.S. Navy and loved to tell plenty of sea stories. Upon his retirement from the navy he went to work for many years at Winchester Fire Arms.
He had been coming up to Maine for most of his life. For the last nineteen years he made his home in Amity. Frederick loved working on his house, yard, and visiting with his neighbors, as well as watching the stock market. He was a faithful brother, a loyal and good friend as well as a hard worker. He will be dearly missed by all, especially his sister Shirley Moorhouse of Houlton. A special thank you to Forrest and Ann Barnes who were college classmates and whom he loved dearly.
Services will be announced at a later date. Interment will take place at Pawtuxet Memorial Park in Warick, Rhode Island. Arrangements in care off Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton, ME 04730. Online condolences and guest book: dunnfuneral.com
