Fred's Story

NEWPORT - Fred Arthur Dean, 86, died November 26, 2015, at a Bangor hospital. He was born January 11, 1929, in Lebanon, NH, the son of Fred and Ruth (Oliver) Dean.

He graduated from Lebanon High School. After marrying his wife Betty, they moved to Newport in 1960. He opened Dean's Electric Motor Shop that same year and operated it until 2005. Fred was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. He loved his cars especially his convertible, but most importantly loved his family. Fred was a charter member of the Sebasticook Snowmobile Club.

He is survived by a son, George and wife, Jeanette of Plymouth; 2 daughters, Mary Dean and companion, Mike Phillips of Hartland, Ruth and husband, Mike Clement of St. Albans; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by dear friends, Paul and Jesse Leonard. The family also wishes to extend thanks to Cheryl Harris.

Fred was predeceased by his wife, Betty in 2006; and 4 sisters, June, Beverly, Marilyn and Diana.

Graveside committal services will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
