BANGOR - Franklin Delano Erb, 73, passed away on October 22, 2014 at his home in Bangor. He was born January 30, 1941 to Arthur and Irene (Williamson) Erb in Pequannock ,NJ.

Frank worked in restaurants for much of his life. He began his career at the age of 16, working at Wayne Pizza in NJ. He and his wife, Joan, moved to Maine in 1976 and opened Erb's Place in Newport, where the Erb's Mess was a local favorite. Subsequent restaurants included The Pines in Milford, and Erb's and Spices in Stockton Springs. Frank was an avid softball player and team sponsor. His fondest memories were of state championship teams in both slow and fast pitch. He also loved the Yankees, music (especially Roy Orbison) and animals. He will always be remembered for his unique sense of humor, strong will, and MacGyver-like handyman work. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time at his other home in Brazil, especially at the farm. To his grandchildren, he was "Popeye", and they will always remember how he could eat an entire oatmeal cookie in one bite.

He is survived by his wife, Lais Salazar; son, Don Erb and his wife, Kristi; two grandchildren, Griffin Franklin and Samantha Joan; daughter, Stephanie Erb and Chuck Somers; his step-children, Lucio, Fernanda, and Denise and families; and special friends, David Green, Catherine WoodBrooks and brother-in-law Ron Ellis. Frank was predeceased by his first wife, Joan (Ellis) Erb and daughter, Danyelle.

A private service will be held on Saturday. Donations in his memory may be made to The Bangor Humane Society.
