Frank's Story

Belfast - Frank Livingstone Wareham II, 77, of Belfast, Maine, passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, October 9th, 2016. Born to Frank and Martha Wareham of Marquette, MI on April 16, 1939.
Frank graduated from Marquette High in '57. Lettering in football and track, and active in the Chorus and Theatre, he was a sweet talking, and fast walking kind of guy. Frank Graduated from Northern Michigan U. in '63 with a BS in Educational Admin. His passion was music. He had some "smooth pipes," and was accomplished on the Piano, Accordion and Tuba. In '66 on a tip from a friend, he applied for the Music Teacher position at Belfast Area High School. His favorite remembrance of the interview was being asked by the board members; "Now what church do you plan on attending?"...Someone was hoping for a new organ player! Frank never left, bringing music to Belfast for 40+ years he became a fixture in the community. He taught for 22 years, and played at just about any gin joint, nursing home, or function that would have him.
In between he traveled the world hitting 5 continents. He was active in local community politics, volunteered at the recycling center, supported the Co-Op and was an ardent supporter of the Arts Community. It is fair to say that Frank was one of many "small, vibrant pieces of energy" that saw Belfast transform from a gritty industrial town, to one of the economic success stories of Maine. He loved his land, and gardens. He loved trees, and lived to laugh. A story teller with an infectious smile, he was a fun guest to have at your dinner table... and he got many free meals from just that.
Frank is survived by his son Stone, daughter Jenny, grandchildren; Rylie, Isabelle, Asa, and Julia and their mother Celeste. Lucie mother of Stone and Jenny. Long time partner Cathy, sister Auntie Boss, and nephews Stuart and Timothy.
In lieu of donations Frank would like it if you planted a tree, made someone laugh, lend a helping hand or just sing a song and pass it along. We'll miss you Frank.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Searsport United Methodist Church, Main St. with Pastor Elizabeth Bailey-Mitchell officiating. A reception in the church vestry will follow.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Searsport.
