PROSPECT - Frank C. Coombs, 74, of Prospect passed away April 4, 2014 at a Bangor hospital after a battle with cancer. He was born July 6, 1939 to Westly and Edith (Seavey) Coombs.
Frank served as fire chief for a number of years and as a selectman for town of Prospect. He was a founding member of the Prospect Community Club and served as president for 10 years. His hobbies were many and everyone who knew him knew he went into them wholeheartedly. One of his favorites was music, he enjoyed playing the steel guitar, he was part of the Wade Dow and friends' band, playing benefits, dances and the nursing home in Penobscot and the Senior Center in Bucksport. He was a man of many talents. "Thank you for touching my life".
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia; daughters, Melanie and Shawn Hamel of Bangor, Kim and David Pluard of Prospect; one son, Robert and Mandy of Morrill; grandchildren, Jamie and husband, Jason Tracy of Hermon, Shawn II and fiancée, Holly of Bangor, Hunter Gross of Prospect, Gunnor and Cadence of Morrill; three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jarryd and Jaslyn Tracy of Hermon; brothers, Roger and Marietta Powers of Bucksport and Clarence and Linda Elden of Sandy Point; and one sister, Dawn Moylan of Portsmouth, NH; many nieces and nephews, as well as special date night friends; Carroll and Jane Lanpher of Verona Island and Brenda Rankin of Brooksville. Frank was predeceased by two brothers, Fred and Mike Powers and one sister, Phyllis McIntosh.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. A reception will follow the service at Bucksport Senior Center, Broadway, Bucksport. www.mitchelltweedie-young.com
