Frances's Story

Text size

Etna - Frances E. (Butterfield) Randall went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 3rd, 2017, at the age of 99 at her daughter's residence in Etna. She was born January 22, 1918, in Perham, daughter of William and Lydia Butterfield.
Frances was raised in Perham, and she married her husband George O. Randall in Castle Hill on February 9th, 1934. They lived in Washburn for many years before they moved to Etna in 1966 and bought a farm that they both worked on. She always had a plate of food ready for any one that showed up, ready to feed them. Clotheslines full of fresh laundry hung every day. She was a hard worker, raising 9 children, who were told if they didn't do right they better smarten up. She made her own butter and the best banana bread ever! Frances baked beans and rolls every Saturday night. She canned all her garden veggies to feed them, and even was the doctor to her children, as they never went to a doctor and stayed healthy and fit.
She loved to quilt and knit, in her last years she enjoyed knitting for the homeless and for the Hope House, she enjoyed talking to her family each day about weather and everyday things. She leaves the family with so many memories of times spent with her and her stories. She was a member of the Four Square Church in Etna and had many friends, always helping her church family with her big heart. She always attended church services where ever she happened to be, always helping anyone she could. She will be missed by many that loved her. Heaven has gained a cherished lady, may she Rest in Peace.
She is survived by 7 of her children, Lorraine Garber and husband Ken, Clifford Randall, Georgina Graves, Abby Fowler, Eugene Randall and wife Faye, Jessica Bernard and husband David, Jacqueline Wescott, one son-in-law Daryl Sperrey. Brothers William Butterfield and Gilbert Butterfield. Frances will be missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including a special nephew David Tarbox and his wife Sue. She was predeceased by her husband George Randall, beloved children, Burton Randall and Lydia Sperrey. Sisters Faye Hudson, Leona Morin, brother Syrus Tarbox.
There will be no funeral as was her wish. There will be a graveside service in the spring at Riverside Ext. Cemetery, Washburn, which will be announced at later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her memory to HOSPICE OF EASTERN MAINE, 885 Union Street, Suite 220, Bangor, Maine 04401. Condolences can be made online at www.duncan-graves.com.
