Prospect - Frances Carroll Fitzgerald Haas died peacefully after complications from a stroke at EMMC on December 10, 2016.

Fran was born on December 10, 1933 in Waterbury Ct. daughter of Michael J. Fitzgerald and Mary F. (Pratt) Fitzgerald. Fran retired from the Post Office in 1996 after working as a rural carrier in
Harwinton Ct. and as a mail clerk at the Searsport Maine post office. She also spent many years working at Marlin Press in Litchfield Ct. Fran and husband David also operated the Harmony Hill Evergreen Nursery in Harwinton Ct. Fran was very artistic, creative and proud of all the blue ribbon crafts that she did in felting, knitting, needlework, crocheting, rug hooking, basket making, knitting prayer shawls, and especially quilting. Fran was an active member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Torrington Ct. and an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bangor Maine.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Michael Fitzgerald and his wife Elsie and her brother Thomas Fitzgerald all of Bethlehem Ct.

Survivors include her husband of forty nine years David Haas; her daughter Kimberly Haas of Portland Me; her son Jeffery Crampton and his wife Megan; grandchildren Kasey and Tim Crampton of Litchfield Ct; her son Spencer Crampton of Goshen Ct and Swanville Maine; sister Barbara O'Neil of Bethlehem Ct; and several nieces and nephews.

At Fran's request she was cremated and wished to have her ashes spread at the family farm. She loved her animals and her gardening.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a local Hospice of your choice.
